Elders are under-shepherds who serve the Good Shepherd by leading his sheep.

Hello Ordinary Readers.

Jeramie Rinne’s short book is one of the best books on church elders. Jeramie focuses early on the qualification for elders then spends the rest of the book on what the role of an elder is. My favorite chapter I the chapter that elders should smell like sheep. Jeramie writes so well on how elders have authority, yes, but they are like shepherds in that they live among the sheep. He also wrote this book not just for aspiring elders and new elders, but it is also a great read for the congregation. Often times the congregation does not have a category for what an elder’s role is and they either expect too much or maybe even too little. This book is great to help the entire congregation be on the same page about their church leadership.

I would recommend anyone wanting to understand what the Bible teaches about elders and what the role of an elder is to read this book. It is concise and easy to read but packs a ton of scripture and wisdom.

Happy Reading!
