The Ordinary Reader

Welcome to my Journal. I hope to accomplish two goals with this journal. First, keep myself accountable to keep track of what I read. Second, to encourage others to read more!

My name is Talon, and I grew up in a
small town in Northwest Arkansas.
The population was around 3,000 and I
graduated high school with a whopping 75
other students. My mother also graduated
from the same high school with maybe 40
students. Being a single mother of two children
I think she did a fantastic job of raising us, with the
help of her day, papaw! With that, I was a rough and tumble
play outside, especially basketball, and loved watching sports, movies, and started playing video games some on cold days.

So, what does this have to do with reading? Well, my mom was very much into music and a product of the 80’s, so she was never an avid reader. In turn, I wasn’t either. Reading was always chore for me, I hated reading and only did the bare minimum required to take a quiz or write a paper. I am sure I am not the only out there that reading was just viewed as a giant waste of time that I could be doing something else.

But, as I decided to go to college at the age of 23 and started following Christ the amount of reading required had increased. With that increase I fell in love with it. That was over a decade ago and I wish I had started a journal of my reading sooner, but better late than never. So I hope to keep myself accountable on top of encouraging others who may think reading isn’t for them. I am by no means a genius nor a fast reader, y’all I am slow! But I hope this helps others fall in love with reading.
