“I mean evangelism that takes the gospel across, ethnic, linguistic, and geographic boundaries, that gathers churches, and teaches them to obey everything Jesus commanded”
Hello Ordinary Readers,
Andy Johnson gives a short and sweet book on missions. I appreciate its biblical foundation and application of preparing, sending, and being missionaries. I think his chapter breakout summarizes his book well, so enjoy a blog post that is basically just me giving you his chapter outline and few quotes!
A Biblical Foundation for Missions
First Things First
Sending and Supporting Well
Getting the House in Order
Healthy Mission Partnerships
Reforming Short-Term Missions
Engaging the Nations by Other Means
I think this is a good read for everyone, but especially for pastors to think about how to lead their church to send and support missionaries. It is also a good resource to read with other pastors or members of the church.
Happy Reading!
“The best missionaries tend to go to one place and stay there, sometimes for the rest of their lives.”
“The work of missions is urgent, but it’s not frantic.”
